HEDGEAPPLES

For the longest time, I wondered "what the hell is a hedge apple???!!", when Scott would talk about finding them on his hunting trips. Several years ago, he brought some home, so now I am quite familiar with them [they are supposed to ward off spiders too]. I love the beautiful green color.

Imagine my surprise when I saw the cutest, easiest (and FREE) decorating idea in my gardening magazine!!! I am now obessed, MUST HAVE HEDGEAPPLES!!! Scott, bring home a BUNCH MORE ;} !!! Hahahaha......

We have a new member of the family.... A little girl, she's 8 weeks old, her name for now is Isabella (Izzy for short) unless Jordan changes his mind here soon!

Grandma & Grandpa were headed to a party for Halloween so we headed over early. (Good thing, Jordan was pretty tired and our evening ended pretty early this year!)

This is my Mom & Dad's rotten cat! She has the largest belly I've ever seen, considering how small her face and legs are (she wouldn't cooperate showing off her girth!). She'll never take the place of Rufus, but, she's good company for them. :) Anytime they go out of town, I'm summoned to check up on her (not that she really needs me!), one time my specific instructions were to check to make sure she wasn't STUCK under the baker's rack, I guess she kept trying to squeeze under it all week!

THE AUCTION (This ain't no "cash in the attic")!!!!!
Saturday was Grandma's Auction, it was a little bittersweet for me, on one hand I am glad that we have made progress in getting the house cleared out. On the other hand, it is a wierd feeling to see all the item's spread out across the front lawn, a lifetime of things -- and it only took one hour to get the house emptied. Of course, I have pictures to share, some funny, some sad....

Ahhh... the trinkets! Pink pigs, white poodles -- believe it or not, folk's like that stuff!

The infamous Pink Flamingo's were purchased by the auctioneer's (they are going to "deer camp" -- I'm scared what their fate will hold!)
And Mike, I know you will be sad, but your favorite velvet couch was sold for $1 (yes, $1)

I think, in all the excitement I missed getting a picture of the OIL LAMP!!! But, someone did buy it..... pity the fool!

This little boy is NOT for sale (he was such a good kiddo!) On the way home, he's packed in the Toyota pretty tightly, because we never travel lightly (and I alway's end up bringing something ELSE of Grandma's home - don't look in the trunk ;})!

Juanita Lehman (one of Grandma's buddies) was sharing w/me how proud Grandma was of this Oak tree, since she planted the acorn and it actually grew! I believe it is about 15 years old.
On the way home, we stopped by the cemetary. Grandma's headstone and slab have been placed, I know she would be pleased.....

Saturday, October 11th - My Niece, Anna's Birthday party at Edge Gymnastics. The kids had a great time! ;}

Wow! I can't believe I actually figured out how to do this! I decided to try something new today, I'm feeling very inspired. Today is the 1st anniversary of my Grandmother's passing, she was the strongest, most honest, loving person I have ever known. Her love for me has made me the person I am today. I know, that no one will ever love me as unconditionally and selflessly (is that a word?) as my Grandmother. I also read a post that really reminded me of her, (Go to: http://www.lisabearnson.com to read the October 10th post) that described her spirit for sure, to never, never give up! I am fortunate to have known her. Maybe when I grow up, I'll be half as strong and sturdy! Hahhahaha.... that's all for today.
